In an era where you see more and more newspapers cutting back their technology sections (New York Times hides their's in the business section), it's a little odd to see WashingtonPost.com announce this morning they're going to start syndicating stories from one of my favorite tech blogs, TechCrunch.
In the press release, Arrington said, "We are excited to work with washingtonpost.com and to include our content in their Technology section. Journalism is evolving, and washingtonpost.com is maintaining their leading position by embracing the community."
But then, on his blog, he remarks that "there are no comments on stories, which is something I hope they change in the near future. Ideally they’d have comments and we’d sync them together from both posts, creating an even livelier discussion."
Clearly, he wants the money and isn't really concerned about how much this benefits (or doesn't) readers of both sites.
Then again, what is Big Ideas from Tiny D, if nothing else but a reposting of my blogs from my company's internal blog. So whom am I to point fingers?
